Curly Girl Method
I’m sure if you’re reading this blog, you are someone who has dreamt about defined, bouncy and frizz-free curls! The CURLY GIRL METHOD (CGM) might just be the key to unlocking your hair's full potential.
What is the Curly Girl Method?
The Curly Girl Method is a hair care routine that focuses on hydrating and nourishing your curls while avoiding common hair care practices and products that can cause damage.
The Basics of CGM
Say Goodbye to Sulfates and Silicones: Opt for sulfate-free shampoos and silicone-free conditioners.
Ditch the Heat: Excessive heat styling can damage curly hair. Embrace air drying or use a diffuser on a low heat setting if you must blow-dry.
No More Brushes: Brushes can break your curls and cause frizz. Use your fingers or a wide-tooth comb to detangle, preferably when your hair is wet and conditioned.
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate: Curly hair is naturally drier, so it’s essential to keep it moisturized. Deep condition regularly and use leave-in conditioners or curl creams to lock in moisture.
Plopping and Pineappling: Techniques like plopping (using a T-shirt or microfiber towel to dry your hair) and pineappling (gathering your hair into a loose ponytail on top of your head while you sleep) help maintain curl definition and reduce frizz.

Products You'll Need:
- Love Curl Shampoo
- Love Curl Hair Mask
- Love Curl Conditioner
- Love Curl Cream (for wavy hair) OR Love Curl Controller (for extremely curly hair)
The Routine:
1. Cleanse with Love Curl Shampoo
Wet your hair thoroughly with warm water.
Apply a 10 rupee coin size amount of Love Curl Shampoo to your scalp.
Gently massage the shampoo into your scalp with your fingertips to stimulate blood flow and lift impurities.
Rinse thoroughly, allowing the water to carry the shampoo down through your curls.
Shampoo again with the same quantity of shampoo, if necessary.
2. Nourish with Love Curl Hair Mask
After shampooing, gently squeeze out excess water from your hair.
Apply Love Curl Hair Mask from mid-length to ends, ensuring each strand is coated.
Detangle your hair with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb.
Leave the mask on for 5-20 minutes to deeply nourish and hydrate your curls.
Rinse thoroughly with cool water to seal the cuticle and lock in moisture.
3. Condition with Love Curl Conditioner
Apply Love Curl Conditioner to your hair, focusing on the mid-lengths and ends.
Leave the conditioner in for 3-5 minutes to allow it to penetrate and moisturise.
Rinse thoroughly with cool water, ensuring all product is removed.
4. Apply Love Curl Cream or Love Curl Controller
- For Wavy Hair (Love Curl Cream):
- After tower drying your hair, apply a small amount of Love Curl Cream to your palms.
- Scrunch the cream into your hair, starting from the ends and working your way up.
- Use the "praying hands" method to smooth the cream over your curls for even distribution.
- Allow your hair to air dry or use a diffuser on a low heat setting for added volume and definition.
- For Extremely Curly Hair (Love Curl Controller):
- Towel dry your hair, apply a small amount of Love Curl Controller to your palms.
- Distribute the controller through your hair, focusing on the areas that need the most definition and control.
- Use the "rake and shake" method: rake the product through your hair with your fingers and then shake your curls to help them clump and define.
- Allow your hair to air dry or use a diffuser on a low heat setting for added volume and definition.
5. Dry and Style
Try to avoid touching your hair as much as possible while it dries to reduce frizz.
Once your hair is completely dry, if you used a gel-like product and it feels crunchy, gently scrunch out the crunch (SOTC) to reveal soft, bouncy curls.
6. Maintain Your Curls
Night Routine: Use the pineappling method (gathering your hair into a loose ponytail on top of your head) to protect your curls while you sleep.
Refresh: On non-wash days, refresh your curls with a water and conditioner spray mix or a light curl refresher.
Additionally,
Deep Condition Regularly: Treat your curls to a deep conditioning mask once a week for extra moisture and bounce.
Satin is Your Friend: Cotton pillowcases can be rough on curls. Switching to a satin or silk pillowcase can help reduce frizz.
